This beautiful, hand made, talking point chess set in a Victorian design is a great alternative to the traditional Staunton style of chess set.

With the familiar look and feel of a Staunton set but with the addition of ornate detailing giving this set an elegant design. Although the Victorian set does not come with a board, it would look great on a dark brown and cream coloured board.

A more compact set than some of our other listings. The tallest figure, the king, standing at 4" (9.5cm) with a 1 1/2" (3.5cm) base, while the shortest, the pawn, stands at 3" (7.5cm) with a 1 1/2 (3.5cm) base. The whole set (all 32 pieces) weighs in at approx 1.5KG.

The minimum size board square for this chess set is 1 7/8" (4.8cm) squared board and would be our recommendation. Shown on our 1 7/8" (4.8cm) squared board, in chestnut brown and cream, with a classical oak edging.

The set is cast in a hard and durable stone casting powder, giving each piece beautiful detail and definition. The hand colouring and finishing, ensures durablity and quality; futher enhancing the details. It's worth noting that the hand colouring process produces a unique effect that is slightly different on every piece, making each one unique. The set is completed with a felt base for each piece ensuring that your board does not become scratched.

Although this set is beautifully decorative, it is very durable and is intended to be used and enjoyed as much as displayed.

The colours for these pieces are a stone for the light and a Jade for the dark.

Each piece is hand coloured and takes the colours and finish differently, so please be aware that there will be slight colour variations between pieces.

Each piece will be individually wrapped and packed in a sturdy cardboard box ensuring the best protection possible. Wherever possible we will use recycled packing to reduce our environmental impact, so please don't be surprised if your chess set arrives in a pre-loved Amazon or cat food box!

Please be aware that we send out parcels on a tracked and signed for service. This gives both you as the buyer and us as the seller piece of mind. Someone will need to be available to sign for your parcel. If you miss a delivery and don't collect your parcel or make alternative arrangements with the courier, your parcel may be returned to us. If we have to resend your parcel, we will need to charge you again for postage.
