Who are Ritch & SJ

We are Ritch and SJ, a couple of creative individuals who like making things, lots of things!

Our journey started in 2020 when we opened our first store on Etsy, Reloved and Rediscovered. Featuring vintage and upcycled items. In the lead up to Christmas that year Ritch's dad asked us if we could sell a few chess sets that he had made during the 1990's. We thought we could so listed them a couple at a time and they flew out of our store with email requests asking if we had more.

We didn't have an endless stock of vintage chess sets but did still have the old moulds so we set Ritch's dad back up in production and we went from there.
In 2021 Etsy approached us about a chess set that featured dragons. We didn't have one at the time but we sent them a fantasy set that later went on to be the hero product in their fall advertising campaign. Our small kitchen based business  sending chess sets around the UK suddenly became an international business sending chess sets around the world. 

Today we offer over 30 different styles of chess sets in multiple colours and finishes.
But chess was becoming all consuming and we had more to offer so we decided to diversify.

We still love giving vintage items a new life, just because it's old doesn't mean it's without use or value. Ritch loves tools and has a passion for vintage tools, he lovingly brings unwanted and unloved tools back to life with gentle cleaning and sympathetic repairs. Not erasing their former lives but enhancing their age and natural patina. 

Hand in hand with the vintage tools is Ritch's love and passion for recycling/repurposing often using his own vintage tool collection to create beautiful handcrafted items for the home. This is an ever evolving collection, so drop us a line if there's something you'd like to see that we don't have.

SJ has a love for texture and colour and is primarily responsible for the beautiful finishes on our chess sets. But in addition to this she often gets her hands grubby cleaning the vintage tools and is our chief wrapper and packer and painter of all things colourful!

As a lover of all things sparkly, SJ has recently gone back in time to revisit her love of jewellery making. A hobby when she was a child is now developing into a new passion for metalsmithing; using recycled silver and seaglass she is creating beautiful unique items of jewellery, keeping our philosophy for reusing and recycling alive.
